Heavy, wet spring snow can snap branches and take down power lines.

That’s why Colorado Springs Utilities and crews in Pueblo went on on standby yesterday for any trouble spots that develop with the coming storm.

As this storm came in, crews were still cleaning up from the last one.

BLIZZARD WARNING … Sat Apr 29 2017

The National Weather Service in Goodland KS has issued a Blizzard Warning… from 7 PM this evening to 1 AM CDT Monday.

* Snow accumulation of 6 to 14 inches…locally higher amounts possible.

* Timing…Saturday evening through Sunday evening, with the worst
conditions after Sunday morning.

* Winds…North 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, however a
few gusts of 60 MPH cannot be ruled out.

* Temperatures…In the low to mid 30s.

* Impacts…Expect whiteout conditions through Sunday due
to heavy snowfall and very strong winds. Power outages are
possible from falling trees and power lines.

…WINTER STORM TO IMPACT TRI-STATE REGION…

.Another couple rounds of moderate to heavy snow will begin to
impact the Tri-State Region starting tonight through Sunday
evening. The first round will occur this evening, with the more
intense second round beginning after midnight. Widespread moderate to heavy snow is expected across most of the region, along with wind gusts of 40-60 MPH.

The very strong winds and moderate to heavy snow will lead to whiteout conditions for most of the region starting late tonight through Sunday. The worst conditions are expected to occur after midnight through Sunday morning.
