Bone-chilling cold in New Zealand

26 June 2017 – It’s been a bone-chilling start to the week for some, with temperatures dipping to negative 7 degrees Celsius.
The chilly low was recorded in Hanmer Springs, with many other parts of the lower South Island plunging to -6C.
In coastal Canterbury the temperatures fell to -4C and inland Otago dipped to -3C.
At Pukaki, the temperature dipped to -6C, St Arnaud was -5.9C, Dunedin hit -4.5C, Alexandra was -4.4C and Christchurch was -3.5C.
