ABC pushing “suppressed scientists” story but misses that CSIRO won’t even employ a skeptic

Poor petals. The ABC is selling the sob story of scientists paid from the public pocket who feel suppressed because they aren’t allowed to voice their personal unresearched opinion on things like international treaties and energy policy.

Leaked emails from 2015 reveal a bitter dispute within CSIRO, Australia’s leading science body, as management tried to prevent top scientists from breaking ranks before the Paris climate summit.

The disagreement took place after CSIRO declined to make a formal submission to a government consultation about Australia’s new emissions target.

CSIRO has guidelines for its researchers, which encourage them to speak publicly about their areas of expertise — provided they do not stray too far into policy.

Critics say these tensions between CSIRO management and scientists are a symptom of ongoing self-censorship by an organisation fearful of offending government and losing funding.

The ABC entirely misses the plight of skeptical scientists who can’t be suppressed at the CSIRO because they would never even get a grant or a job there.

Put this in perspective, the CSIRO pour out climate reports in full gloss designer color on a regular basis. They forget to mention Australias hot […]

Wet spring causing headaches for Canadian Prairie farmers

Wet spring causing headaches for Canadian Prairie farmers

More than 2 million acres of unharvested crops left over from last fall in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Those old crops need to be cleared out before new seeding can begin. Even then,  the ground is still too wet to plant.

Alberta’s Agriculture Financial Services Corp. says there are about 400,000 hectares of insured unharvested crops left over from last fall. A similar amount of uninsured crops remain in fields. (A hectare is equivalent to about 2.47 acres.)

In Saskatchewan “over a million acres didn’t get combined last fall in the province,” said Todd Lewis, president of the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan.

And in Manitoba, about 40,000 hectares were not harvested last fall, mainly in the southwest.

Water from rain and melting snow is soaking the grain and oilseed crops that farmers were unable harvest last fall due to bad weather.

And fields they did manage to harvest are too sodden to walk on, let alone seed, due to a cold and wet spring.

“I haven’t seen this much water lying around in all of the years I have farmed,” said farmer Humphrey Banack.

Colorado Climate March Postponed Due to Heavy Snow

h/t Breitbart – The People’s Climate March rally in Colorado Springs, scheduled for April 29th, was postponed due to heavy snowfall and treacherous conditions.

Winter Blast Putting Climate Protests On Ice In Colorado

…

Organized by groups seeking to ban the production of oil, natural gas, and coal, including 350.org, Sierra Club, and NextGen Climate, the “People’s Climate March” is occurring tomorrow in Washington, D.C., and cities across the country to protest the Trump administration’s environmental policies.

With the Washington protest reportedly expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees, hundreds of “sister marches” are planned for cities across the country. But one out of the twelve protests in Colorado has already been postponed due to an impending snowstorm. The National Weather Service’s winter storm warning projects six to 12 inches of snow, but there is potential for up to two feet in the Denver Metro Area.

“Sometimes Mother Nature throws you a curveball!” 350 Colorado Springs wrote in a Facebook page earlier this afternoon. “Dangerous conditions and wet heavy snow in the forecast for tomorrow. Stay safe and warm and join us Sunday afternoon same time and place!!”

Some of the protestors at the Colorado events which weren’t cancelled braved seriously cold weather, well protected by synthetic plastic snow gear manufactured from petroleum products, to protest against fossil fuels and global warming.

Surprisingly Al Gore wasn’t in Colorado at the time. The famous Gore effect is a remarkable tendency for temperatures to plummet to record lows, whenever Al Gore is in the vicinity of a major climate event. But this time Al Gore is off the hook – Gore reportedly showed up at the Washington DC march.
