The Climate Policy Cart Led Climate Science Horse
Andrew Montford interviews Bernie Lewin about his new book, ‘Searching for the Catastrophe Signal: The origins of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’, published on 23 November 2017 by the Global Warming Policy Foundation.

Lewin’s book offers a new history of the roots of the global warming scare, which reveals that the 1995 discovery of evidence for a manmade influence on climate was a response to demands of politicians desperate to regulate energy use. It was only when the newly formed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was threatened with a loss of funding that scientific evidence suddenly and dramatically appeared.

Based on interviews with many of the participants in the key meetings at the time, author Bernie Lewin shows how, at this critical moment, it was not science dictating policy, but policy demands dictating the science, with effects that are being felt to this day.
