The Heavenly and Northstar ski resorts near Lake Tahoe reported Friday morning they each received more than 2 feet (0.61 meters) of snow in 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service..
Earlier forecasts had called for as much 2 ft (60 cm) of snow at lake level at Tahoe, with as much as 4 ft (1.2 m) in upper elevations.
