Mount Anak Krakatau (“Child of Krakatau”)
____________
In a statement today (23 Sep 2018), MAGMA Indonesia (Multiplatform Application for Geohazard Mitigation and Assessment in Indonesia) announced that Mount Anak Krakatau erupted 56 times yesterday.
MAGMA Indonesia stated, adding that tourists and other people were prohibited from approaching the crater within a 2 km (1.2 miles) radius.

Krakatau is a volcanic island located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. In 1883 the cataclysmic eruption of the “original” (and much larger) Krakatau killed more than 30,000 people.
In 1927, a new island, Anak Krakatau, emerged from the 1883 caldera. The new island was formed by an underwater eruption.
