India – Record snowfall damages crops

Himachal Pradesh – The Sissu area of the Lahul-Spiti district has witnessed record snowfall in last few days. 

Crops almost ready for harvest have been damaged in Punjab and Haryana. In Himachal Pradesh too, the apple crop has been destroyed severely due to snowfall.

Meanwhile, two German nationals were rescued by the Indian Air Force (IAF) from Pingdom La area of Lahaul-Spiti district after the two were caught in a blizzard.

Elsewhere, at least 22 people have been killed in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir as the northern states have brrn hit by incessant rainfall since Saturday.
