“Looks like the Cascadia fault continues to build pressure,” says reader.

The seven earthquakes, which measured between 6.8 and 4.3, struck off the coast of Vancouver Island, B.C., Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first quake, a 6.6, struck roughly 135 miles (217 km)off the coast of Vancouver Island on Sunday evening. The next one, a 6.8, in the same general area — about 122 miles (196 km) off the coast.

A third quake measuring 6.5 struck a little further out to sea, roughly 138 miles off the coast.

Next cane three more quakes, all under 5.0, and on Monday a 5.2 hit near the area of the first quake from the night before.

Five of the seven quakes (so far) occurred at a depth of about six miles (10 km), USGS data shows. The fourth quake, which was the first of the smaller scale quakes, struck about 11 miles deep.

The of the depth the largest is about 6 miles (10 kilometers) and it struck about 149 miles (239 kilometers) west of Tofino, Canada.

Although the quakes were reported by many people on Vancouver Island, no tsunami warning was issued and no injuries were reported,

Northern Washington residents reported feeling the strongest of the earthquakes, as did a handful of California residents more than 1,200 miles away.

Of course at one time or another the subduction will release and cause many problems in the inland NW

Beyond what will be the concern when this happens, is the new material added to the magma chambers of our sleeping volcanoes.
