WINTER STORM WARNING UNTIL 4 AM MONDAY ABOVE 2000 FEET
National Weather Service Seattle WA Dec 22 2018 –
Cascade Mountains of Whatcom and Skagit Counties-
Cascade Mountains of Snohomish and King Counties-
Cascade Mountains of Pierce and Lewis Counties-
including Newhalem, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, Paradise, and Longmire
Heavy snow expected above 2000 feet. 12-18 inches of accumulation at pass level with 2-3 feet possible at higher elevations.
Includes the Mount Baker Ski Area, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, the Crystal Mountain Ski Area, White Pass, and Paradise on Mount Rainier.
The heaviest snowfall is expected tonight. Snow will become intermittent Sunday, with occasional heavy bursts. Snow levels will begin between 1500-2500 feet this evening then increase to 2500-3000 feet Sunday.
Travel could be very difficult or result in closures at times over the mountain passes. In addition new snow is likely to lead to a renewed threat of avalanches across the Cascades, particularly near Mount Baker and Crystal Mountain.
