Record Cold Volga
An anticyclone spreading over the southern half of the European territory in the last days brought record cold to a number of settlements in the Volga region. The average daily air temperature is 4-6 degrees lower than multi-year values.
In Bezenchuk (Samara region), on the night of April 20, the thermometer dropped to -6.3 degrees, lower than the previous record by 2.5 degrees in 1978. Low daily temperature records in the Volgograd region have also been broken. In Elton it was -1.7, beating the record 90 years old. -4.4 was recorded in Frolovo, which is 0.3 degrees lower than the previous one set in 1945. And in the Orenburg region in Dombarovsk on the night of April 20 a frost of -8.2 degrees beat the former record of -4.9 set in 1998.

Far Eastern Record Cold
On the eve of the cyclone over southern Yakutia including the central and southern regions of the Khabarovsk Territory, the average daily temperature was 2-4 degrees lower than multi-year values. The new record low is now -5 degrees, lower than the previous one less than a degree set in 2001. In the European Autonomous Region in the village of Yekaterino-Nikolsky, the thermometer dropped to -8.3 degrees, leaving behind the record of -6.1 degrees set 63 years ago.
