Wintry blast leaves major South Island state highways shut.

26 Sep 2019 – In Southland, State Highway 94 (SH94 from Te Anau to Milford closed due to avalanche risk and snow fall.

SH87 is shut from Outram to Kyeburn in Otago due to snow and there is no detour.

State Highway 1 (SH1) from Dunedin to Waitati closed on Thursday morning due to black ice.
