What will make this blizzard “historic”?

“The forecast we have out is something we haven’t really seen in at least 30 years, and probably 80 years,” said meteorologist Jason Anglin at the National Weather Service in Great Falls. “The sheer amount we’re forecasting is quite high. It’s unusual in September.”

Parts of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming could see more than 3 feet of snow over the weekend, with temperatures dipping to the 20s and 30s during the weekend, according to USA Today.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls, Montana, warned that blizzard conditions could hit the state with winds of 40 miles per hour.

“This early-season winter storm and/or blizzard has the potential to set a new benchmark for snow accumulations, cold temperatures and resulting impacts for parts of the Northern Rockies and the Rocky Mountain Front,” said Jonathan Erdman with the weather service. “A similar storm in 1934 produced prolific amounts of snow in late September over north-central Montana.”

The snow could damage vegetation in the area since trees haven’t dropped their leaves yet.

Looks like Washington, along with North and South Dakota, could also see snow.

In September!

So much for global warming.
