Montana Gov. Steve Bullock declared an emergency on Sunday for areas hit by an historic early-season snowstorm.
The storm brought heavy, wet snow and high winds that closed roads, downed trees and caused scattered power outages.
Snowing in eight states
Winter storm warnings were posted for parts of western Montana, northern Idaho and northeast Washington, with snow also forecast for parts of Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, Nevada and California.
The brunt of the storm hit Montana where up to 2 feet (61 cm) of snow fell in the mountains on Saturday and a record 14 inches (35.5 cm) fell in Great Falls. Snow was still falling on Sunday.
