Snow forecast as far south as Clovis, New Mexico. Six to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) of snow in some areas.
“Cold Air Invasion Today,” warns the National Weather Service. A strong cold front will move into the Southern states Thursday and Friday.
High temperatures will be 10 to 30 degrees below average.
Snow will be possible in the South High Plains, with heavy rain and potential for flash flooding ahead of the front.
SIGNIFICANT EARLY SEASON SNOWFALL TODAY FOR NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO
A storm system will impact northeast New Mexico through today. The heaviest snowfall will be focused near Raton Pass as well as Johnson and Bartlett Mesas, where 6 to 12 inches of snow is likely. Wind gusts up to 35 or 40 mph could result in areas of blowing snow. Significant travel impacts to the Interstate 25
corridor are expected near the Colorado border. Meanwhile, lighter snowfall amounts will still result in slick road conditions across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains eastward to the Texas border. Snowfall will also likely bring isolated impacts to the east slopes of the Jemez Mountains to include Los Alamos.
