Record snowfall in Chicago

Beats record set 96 years ago, in 1923.

The 0.9 inches of snow that fell at Chicago’s official observing site on O’Hare International Airport set a new record for Chicago for October 30th – the old record of 0.7-inch was set back in 1923.

The 1.0 inch reported at Midway also set a new record for this date.

Snow continued falling across a good portion of the Chicago area this morning with a Winter Weather Advisory calling for 1 to 4-inches of total snow accumulation across DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kane and Cook Counties.
