Heavy snow forces closure of two Southern California freeways

Follows last month’s Thanksgiving storm, which dropped nearly four feet of snow on the Big Bear area – the heaviest snowfall to hit in November for more than 50 years.

26 Dec 2019 – A major snowstorm moved into the Southland last night, prompting closures of the 5 Freeway through the Grapevine and the 15 Freeway through the Cajon Pass.

It was unclear when either interstate would reopen.

The Thanksgiving storm closed roads – and ski resorts! – throughout the region and knocked out power to thousands of customers.

“Merry White Christmas to Southern California,” says Bill. “For those who aren’t familiar, this is the Tejon Pass just North of LA on I-5. This would be the normal route of choice for most travelers heading up the coast.”
