The new Nord Stream 2 pipeline, financed by Gazprom and five western companies five western companies, ENGIE, OMV, Royal Dutch Shell, Uniper and Wintershall, will soon be able to double the volume of gas Germany imports from Russia, currently around 40% of total German gas consumption.

Although gas production in the Netherlands is declining, it seems probable that imports from Norway will continue at that level for the foreseeable future.

Everything therefore points to German imports and consumption of natural gas increasing as the new pipeline comes on stream, in stark contrast to this country.

I am equally sure that the major investors in this project would not have put their money up without legally binding guarantees from the German government.

via NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT
