Total reported cases of the new coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China have now risen to 40,573, more than 40,000 of them in China.
Those 40,573 cases may just be ‘tip of the iceberg,’ says Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, who warned that the coronavirus could become a pandemic.
Chinese health officials said 97 more deaths were reported Sunday. All but two of the deaths have occurred on the Chinese mainland, most in and around the city of Wuhan.
