Researchers from Guangzhou, China have suggested that pangolins may be an intermediate animal source of the coronavirus. (I had never heard of a pangolin before. It’s a form of anteater, and is the only mammal to have scales.)
The researchers think the virus may have been transferred from bats to pangolins, and thence to humans. Apparently that would be a fairly easy step, because the Chinese consider pangolin meat to be a delicacy.
