Well done to Guido, who has unearthed this gem:
Speaking at the ‘Green Alliance‘ think tank’s ‘Countdown to COP’ event yesterday, U.K. Foreign Office Climate Representative Nick Bridge called for “economic and financial transformation”, claiming that climate change is the result of our capitalist economic system. This is despite the ecological disaster zones of non-free market countries…
After the event, also addressed by Michael Gove and Nicola Sturgeon, where he made the eyebrow raising comments, Bridge claimed:
“We need to recognise that climate change is the result of an economic system. Solving it involves shifting the whole economic system.”
Dom’s much trailed upheaval of the civil service could not come soon enough…
When asked about the quote, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson said he had not seen the comments, though confirmed to Guido that overthrowing capitalism “is certainly not” Government policy.

But this is part of a pattern of infiltration by anti-capitalist movements, which lately have become more bold.
Just think – would be have tolerated the eco-nutters from XR even just a few years ago?
Or the now blatant propaganda from the BBC and others?
As with all infiltration movements, this one started covertly, with Greenpeace’s conversion of the idiot Ed Miliband.
But that was not enough to sway public opinion. Hence the bombardment with BBC indoctrination, and latterly the perfectly planned coup by Greta’s Marxist handlers.
Now the likes of Nick Bridge feel able to parade their far left agenda in public, without fear of attack or removal.
The idea that we need to shift the whole economic system comes of course straight from the Christiana Figueres playbook, who has made no secret of her desire to overthrow capitalism.
One could ask why the Foreign Office is putting her acolytes into position of power. But then we only have to think back to the days of Burgess and Maclean to understand why.
The government is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. But if it really wants to reclaim the agenda, Mr Bridge needs to be given the boot now. Simply saying his views are not government policy is not good enough.
His views clearly do not correlate with the wishes of the great majority of the British public, nor the manifestos of the MPs most of them voted for.
His personal beliefs are a matter for himself. But he has no right to use them to dictate government policy.
