The most common mistake various authorities made in response to COVID-19 outbreak was treating contagious COVID-19 carriers together with other patients. This happened in Wuhan and New York City.
The first rule of the epidemic management – treating infected persons separately from other patients and keeping them away from ordinary medical facilities as much as possible. Stephen McIntyre tweeted today:

and on April 9:
I saw interview with experienced US doctor on epidemics in Third World. They set up field hospitals for epidemic patients so that ordinary hospitals can continue without getting infected. Domestically, US did exact opposite. Allowed epidemic patients to disrupt. Worse than Third [world]
Only in rare cases (like intensive care units) sharing facilities is justified.
