April 25, and Murmansk still covered by a foot of snow

A southern cyclone originating five days ago in the Black Sea region brought snowfalls with blizzards to the Russian North.

Within a week, the cyclone shifted through the Middle Volga, the Volga-Vyatka region and the Komi Republic to the Arctic. Having reached Novaya Zemlya, the Southerner sharply turned towards the Kola Peninsula.

One-meter drifts still remain in the Russian North.
For example, in the village of Shoyna (Arkhangelsk region), the snow cover is 140 cm!

Last winter Murmansk endured the snowiest in 80 years of observation.

On April 25, the weather station noted 30 cm of snow cover still remains.
