Wind, Rain, Snow, Sun–A Typical British November!

In total contrast to November 1951, the month was cold, sunny and dry in 1961. Despite the month being colder than average, there were some pleasant spells, with temperatures reaching 17.7C at Exeter (Top temperature last month was 17.6C).

But the main theme was the frequency of snowfalls throughout the month:

November 1971 was a very similar month. Temperatures hit 19.7C at Hawarden Bridge. Although most of the country saw below average rainfall, heavy rainfall and floods affected parts of Scotland in the first week. Much of England & Wales also saw heavy rain in the last week of the month.

Snow was also widespread, though not particularly heavy, in mid month:
