The Baroness making a fortune from Net Zero

As you may be aware, David Rose, formerly of the Daily Mail, now writes for UnHerd.

This piece on Baroness Brown is worth reading:

In the realm of science, few politicians are more powerful than Baroness Brown. As the chair of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, her remit is to consider the boundaries of Britain’s future: from AI to medicine, from biotechnology to climate change.

Of all these subjects, it is the latter that appears to interest Brown most. Indeed, not only does her work concern crafting Britain’s new energy strategy — she also stands to benefit from it.

Full story here.

What David Rose might have added is the Baroness’ involvement with Orsted, of which she is a non-executive Director. Orsted, purely by coincidence no doubt, are the chief beneficiary of the new Permitted Reduction Scheme. This enabled them to renege of contracts signed last year to build a new offshore wind farm in the North Sea, and instead reintroduce it in the latest CfD auction at much higher prices.

As David Turver also points out, Orsted appear to have exceeded the limit of capacity which is allowed to be transferred under the scheme.

Nothing sums up the arrogance of this disgraceful woman than this comment by Rose:
