Manston Part 5 – A request for assistance.

The UK Met Office no longer sees fit to respond to my enquiries of even basic questions. I have questions of them dating back to February plus two reminders and still no answers resulting in having to resort to Freedom of Information requests. Would anyone out there be willing to help on just one enquiry to see what explanation is for a major anomaly? The details……..

For background the four parts of my Manston reports are the original, part two “The plot thickens” part three “ an appeal to number crunchers” and part four “what a difference 58 metres make.”

All that I am trying to ascertain is why there are such large discrepancies between the two weather stations in such remarkably close proximity that have been simultaneously since the instalation of Manston 2 on 6/12/2019.

As an example the headline image of Manston (original) is for the last 7 days from https://weatherobs.com/ It indicates a 7 day maximum of 18.2°C and a minimum of 2.3°C. Now consider those same parameters from Manston no 2 just 58 metres away.

The same period indicates a maximum of 17.46°C with a minimum of 4.45°C

A difference in minimum temperature of over 2.1°C from modern (under 5 years old) instrumentation at a claimed potential replacement site (according to the Met Office – see part two) compared to a long term operational site. This scale of difference cannot simply be hand waived away and ignored. However, I suspect the Met Office are unwilling to admit to the particularly large variances that can be caused by siting and the implications of them.

So my request is for volunteers (the more the merrier) to simply ask the Met Office to give some form of answer to why two separate stations are recording so differently. If an answer is forthcoming I would welcome it being forwarded to me by way of including in comments below or by email to ray.m.sanders1956@gmail.com

The Met office can be contacted at enquiries@metoffice.gov.uk

Any help would be most appreciated and as many separate enquiries as possible may make them start to take notice.

Thanks

Ray
