Now they tell us? Labor says new aggressive Net Zero policy they hid from voters “is popular”

By Jo Nova

Deception and lies — the only way the government can get more renewables

The Labor Party  was supposed to tell the whole world their 2035 renewables target in February, but they knew the voters would hate it, so they hid it until after the election. If Chris Bowen thought the voters wanted more renewables spending, obviously, he would have said so to win more votes.

As a part of the sacred Paris Agreement Australia was supposed to announce new Nationally Determined Commitment every five years. That deadline was late February. The world is bursting into flames around us, but the UN didn’t mind if the Labor Party were late, and hid their intentions, and nor did the Greens, or the “Climate Change Authority”. They all sat silent because they all know the voters don’t want it. Ipso Fabricato, all of them serve “The Blob”, not the voters.

Climate Change was virtually invisible during the election, yet the dishonorable Chris ‘Blackout’ Bowen now suddenly says the ‘silent majority’ support him.

by Geoff Chambers. The Australian

Emboldened Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has doubled down on Labor’s rollout of offshore wind farms, renewables and the phase-out of coal-fired power plants in a post-election attack on critics of his green power agenda, who he declares were rejected by Australia’s “silent majority”.

He wasn’t turbocharging anything two weeks ago:

After being sworn in on Tuesday for a second term, Mr Bowen will turbocharge Labor’s clean-energy revolution to achieve the government’s ambitious goal of 82 per cent of renewables in the electricity grid by 2030.

It’s such bad luck?  The Climate Change Authority (CCA) just happened to need a few extra weeks of work after the election, before it could reveal the horror show to the hapless Australians who pay their salaries:

The Australian understands the Climate Change Authority is weeks from finalizing its advice on an upgraded 2035 emissions-reduction target, which will be more aggressive than Labor’s current 2030 pledge to slash emissions by 43 per cent.

Close down these fake agencies of industrial lobbyists like the CCA who serve themselves and not the people. Be gone, o’ parasites of the people!

If Bowen cared about what the people think, he could just poll them…

As it happens Essential polling out yesterday shows one issue dominated the election, and it was “cost of living”. More than half of Australian voters ranked it their number one issue, and renewables are the opposite of that. Every time the people are polled, “how much do you want to spend on climate change” the answer is next to nothing. An IPA poll in 2022 showed 70% of Australians don’t even want to spend $1 a week to reach Net Zero. (If they knew the real cost they already pay, they would riot in the streets).

Essential poll May 13, 2025.

Asked another way, voters want the government to reduce the cost of living, solve the housing crisis, fix medicare, crime and immigration more than they want Labor to fix “the climate”. 80% of Australians didn’t even put climate in their top three issues.  Essential Poll

Poll Most important issues for the new government to act on

Labor Mandate. Poll Australia. 2025.

How’s that for a mandate for you Chris? If you didn’t talk about turbocharging the targets before the election, you are either stupid, or a liar? Or both.

Bill Gates Urges Rich Nations to Fulfil Climate Change Pledges

Essay by Eric Worrall

Micrsosoft’s recently admitted their carbon footprint has risen 30% since 2020.

Global Net-Zero Targets in Jeopardy as Rich Countries Lag Behind

By Felicity Bradstock – May 11, 2025, 10:00 AM CDT

  • Bill Gates calls for wealthy nations to prioritize net-zero emissions, emphasizing their responsibility to combat climate change.
  • Despite global net-zero pledges, rich countries lag in decarbonisation, risking the goals of the Paris Agreement.
  • Gates highlights the need for innovation investments and stronger climate commitments from high-income nations.

Alongside environmentalists and climate scientists, Bill Gates is the latest public figure to call on high-income countries to do more to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. While reducing emissions in developing countries can be difficult, due to a lack of funding and infrastructure, meaning it could take several more years to expand the renewable energy capacity of certain regions, Western nations have no such excuse.

This week, Microsoft’s founder, Bill Gates, said that rich countries “owe it to the world” to achieve net-zero emissions, during the opening dinner of the Ecosperity sustainability event in Singapore. Gates is the chairman of the non-profit Gates Foundation, which provides funding for a wide range of causes, including climate-related projects.

Speaking with Singapore’s Ambassador for Climate Action Ravi Menon, Gates stressed that high-income countries must achieve net zero even if the entire world cannot. “The notion that the entire world is going to get [to net zero] by 2050 is at this point not realistic,” said Gates. “There are levels of emissions that are small enough that the temperature worsening actually is not a problem,” he added. However, if rich nations can reach net zero, it demonstrates to other countries the potential to tackle the effects of the climate crisis.

Back in the real world, Microsoft’s carbon emissions are skyrocketing, up 40% since 2020.

To be fair, Bill has apparently sold most of his Microsoft shares, and now owns around 1% of Microsoft – though that 1% is still worth billions of dollars.

But given Bill is responsible for creating Microsoft, and people at Microsoft still pick up the phone when he calls, he could have said something in his speech to Ecosperity about how he personally financially benefits from the profits of a company with a soaring carbon footprint.

Bill could also have explained to Ecosperity why he appears to think it is OK for him personally to make money from a company with a skyrocketing carbon footprint, but believes that everyone else should knuckle down and make sacrifices to reduce their carbon footprints.

If anyone has a link to Bill Gates’ Ecosperity speech please post in comments. Ecosperity has so far published a playlist of four videos related to the event.

Antarctic Ice Is Increasing…Climate Models “No Longer Reflect Reality”

By Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt

If you look at the climate website of the Helmholtz Association with the ambitious name “Climate Facts” under Antarctica, you will read the following: “The important mainland ice of Antarctica is disappearing, and at an increasing rate”. According to the Helmholtz Association, this is of great significance for rising sea levels. And indeed, the rising sea level caused by the melting Antarctic ice is one of the central arguments of climate policy that has worried people.

This makes the result of a recently published study, according to which the picture has changed since 2021, all the more surprising: Antarctica’s continental ice is increasing again.

Chinese researchers from Tongji University led by Prof. Shen and Dr. Wang found that Antarctic ice masses have increased significantly since 2021. The data evaluated by NASA’s GRACE satellite showed an annual loss of 74 billion tons per year from 2002 to 2010. From 2011 to 2020, the amount even doubled. Now the ice has increased by around 108 billion tons year on year.

As the melting of the Antarctic glaciers contributed around 20% to sea level rise, a slowdown in the rise has been observed since 2021. Wouldn’t this good news be worth reporting on the news? Not so far.

A second piece of good news is also not being reported by the German Tagesschau news or political Berlin: Arctic sea ice has not decreased for over 10 years. A recent publication by Mark England from the University of Exeter and Lorenzo Polvani from Columbia University in New York has drawn attention to this. The researchers report that the decline in Arctic sea ice is expected to pause for decades. They expect it to continue for at least the next 5-10 years.

As recently as 2009, John Kerry, US climate envoy, sounded the alarm that the Arctic would be ice-free in 2013. The reality turned out differently:

The decline in Arctic sea ice up to 2012 is well documented by satellite measurements, as is the subsequent stabilization and slight recovery. The annual September minimum is used for comparison. Following the strong warming of recent years, a renewed decline was expected. But the sea ice remains stable.

Yet, this clear measurement data does not prevent the German Tagesschau news from reporting on March 28, 2025 that the decline in sea ice is continuing, with serious consequences for the climate system. And we are still paying broadcasting fees for such false information, which obviously serves political purposes.

Climate science in crisis?

Climate model forecasts are increasingly deviating from reality. Axel Bojanowski spoke to two scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg. Prof. Bjorn Stevens and Prof. Jochem Marotzke speak of a crisis in climate science. Marotzke: “The current class of climate models is running into too many contradictions with reality”. Marotzke is concerned about the great uncertainty of the models. He cites the following examples: “In large parts of the world, the models contradict each other on the question of whether it will rain more or less in the future. The warming of the Earth’s surface between 1998 and 2012 was significantly slower than predicted by the models (“hiatus”).
Since 1979, the tropical eastern Pacific has cooled, contrary to the expectations of all models that simulate warming there.”

With regard to climate science, Marotzke speaks of “the other climate crisis”. “This is the moment for a paradigm shift”

My impression is that some clever scientists are now realizing that by pointing to the unshakable statements of the climate models, they have led politicians to bring much misfortune upon their peoples because they wanted to avoid the impending catastrophe too quickly with completely inappropriate measures. We will remember the statements of the UN: “Only renewable energies are the exit from the highway to climate hell” (Guterres). Or “Greenhouse gas emissions have clearly caused global warming, with the global surface temperature in 2011-2020 1.1°C above the 1850-1900 level” (IPCC 2023, Synthesis report A1).

Climate models “no longer reflect reality”

These statements are based on climate models for which, according to Marotzke, we now need a paradigm shift because they no longer reflect reality with sufficient accuracy after just a few years.
When will there be a paradigm shift in climate policy in this country?
