Live at 1 pm ET: Exposing the Climate Grift – The Climate Realism Show #146

Elon Musk’s DOGE crew continues to shine a light on how our federal government operates, and it is exposing more climate grift than even the most cynical among us could have imagined. The latest involves the EPA giving failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams $2 billion to expand “clean energy by prioritizing housing, equity, and resilience.” Her organization, Power Forward Communities, says it will install heat pumps, solar panels, EV chargers, and other “green” technology. Does Abrams have any expertise in this field? No. In fact, her organization incorporated itself with $100 in the bank just months before receiving $2 billion of our tax money. The Washington Free Beacon also reported this week that the man Biden put in charge of the EPA’s “Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund” funneled $5 billion to his former employer, something called the Coalition for Green Capital.

The climate grifters are being exposed, and the EPA is trying to claw these billions of dollars back. But how deep does the corruption go? We’re bringing in Steve Milloy of the Energy and Environmental Legal Institute, an EPA transition team member in Trump’s first term, to get a handle on it. The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely will also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the Week, including a look at NOAA data showing the second-biggest month-to-month temperature drop since 2009.

US Pull Out Of IPCC Meeting

By Paul Homewood

U.S. to pull delegation from IPCC meeting

From Axios:

State Department officials won’t participate in next week’s meeting of the top UN climate science panel, sources familiar with the matter told Axios.

Full story here.

With the US already pulling out of the Paris Agreement, we can expect to see a continuing rollback from international climate diplomacy, along with the money that goes with it.

Battery Storage Fire In Essex

By Paul Homewood

Yet another one!

image

Firefighters are currently responding to a fire at a battery energy storage site (BESS), currently under construction in East Tilbury.

The site consists of multiple containers housing battery units.

The fire was caused by a fault in one of the battery cells within a single containerised battery unit, leading to ignition. Fire crews have been on-site since the call came in, working to prevent the fire from spreading and ensuring the situation remains safe.

Area Manager Dan Partridge said:
"Our firefighters have worked quickly and effectively alongside the site owners and Thurrock Council to manage this fire safely. Through close monitoring and a carefully controlled response, we have contained the fire and made sure there is no risk to the wider community."

Firefighters have been using specialist equipment, including thermal imaging cameras and drones, to monitor temperatures and manage the fire in a controlled manner. Water has been used to prevent heat transfer, and crews continue to oversee the situation.

Thanks to the swift response and collaborative efforts, the fire is under control. Crews are expected to remain on-site for the rest of the day to make sure the area is completely safe.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it has been fully extinguished and conditions allow.

Scientists discover ‘unexpected’ decline in global ocean evaporation amid rising sea temperatures

Another setback for promoters of the so-called settled science of global warming? Natural variation once again comes to the fore. The ‘slowdown in the growth of global water vapor’ (quoting the study) is here linked to ‘wind stilling’, which is not well understood due to various uncertainties. A role for ‘natural climate oscillations’ is suggested. A question arising is what, if anything, this might have to do with the topic of reduction in global cloud cover that we covered yesterday.

A study published in Geophysical Research Letters has challenged the conventional understanding of the relationship between global warming and ocean evaporation, says Phys.org.

A research team from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered a phenomenon that, despite rising sea surface temperatures, global ocean evaporation has decreased over the past decade.

Ocean evaporation plays a central role in the Earth’s hydrological cycle, contributing more than 85% of atmospheric water vapor. Historically, higher sea surface temperatures were expected to increase evaporation rates.

However, observations since the early 2000s have revealed a puzzling slowdown in the growth of global water vapor, prompting scientists to re-examine how ocean evaporation responds to rising temperatures.

To investigate this phenomenon, the researchers analyzed advanced satellite-based ocean heat flux data to assess long-term trends in global ocean evaporation. Their findings revealed a significant shift in the evaporation trend over recent decades.

The study exhibited that while global ocean evaporation showed an upward trend from 1988 to 2017, this trend reversed in the late 2000s.

“Since then, two-thirds of the world’s oceans have experienced a reduction in evaporation, resulting in a slight decline in global evaporation rates between 2008 and 2017. This contradicts what we would typically expect in a warming climate,” said Dr. Ma Ning, the lead author of the study.

The researchers identified a key factor behind this unexpected trend: a decline in wind speed, a phenomenon known as “wind stilling.” They suggest that wind stilling is likely linked to shifts in atmospheric circulation patterns, particularly the Northern Oscillation Index, which has recently transitioned from a positive to a negative phase.

“Changes in wind speed may be associated with decadal variations in Earth’s climate system,” Dr. Ma explained. “The recent decline in ocean evaporation should not necessarily be interpreted as evidence of a weakened hydrological cycle, as it may instead reflect natural climate oscillations.”
