It’s not unusual, says NWS meteorologist.
23 May 2018 – The Tahoe area will see a chilly start to the Memorial Day weekend with snow above 8,000 feet in the northern Sierra.
“It’s not unusual to have systems this late in the season that will drop snow at high elevations,” says Mike Kochasic, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
I wonder what it would take to be considered unusual.
