Italian forecasts call for colder snowier winters

The Italian weather forecast site ‘Il Meteo’ talks about something cold coming on,” says Italian geologist Dr Mirco Poletto.

“Today it says the Gulf Stream is weakening.”

“The consequence is the Atlantic ocean is 2° to 5°C colder than before.”

“The website also talks about a correlation between the Gulf Stream weakening and the solar minimum now in progress. The consequence of all this is a more dynamic weather, more storms and more snow.”

Writing for Il Meteo, meteorologist Marco Castelli explains that the Gulf Stream regulates the climate of Europe and North America.

It is certain that if an ocean is colder than normal, there is no heat to heat the air, so the climate will become more and more dynamic, with winter seasons more and more cold and snowy. Castelli warns.

“The meteorologist thinks about a very short term cooling,” says Dr Poletto. “But I think it will be longer, not a year or two but, at least, a couple of decades.”
