Heavy snowfall in China – 1,100 vehicles stranded

In the early morning of October 3 in Sichuan Province more than 430 police officers worked all night in the snow providing rescue and relief.

In addition, the government arranged for special personnel to send food, drinking water, drug and other supplies to the trapped, but due to the snow, delivery vehicles could not go up the mountain. Medical personnel therefore traveled on foot to carry out medical relief.

After an all-night fight, the road in the direction of Kangding was re-opened, allowing trapped personnel and vehicles to begin returning to the main town. However, many drivers have no ice and snow driving experience, so are evacuating  back to Kangding under the guidance of the police organizations at extremely slow speed,

In the middle of the night the temperature dropped to below zero.
