Oct 30, 2018 – After an early-season snowstorm shut down the Coquihalla Highway for hours this past Sunday, Environment Canada warng that the popular highway between Hope and Merritt could be hit with another round this evening.
The agency is forecasting 10 cm of accumulation throughout the night.
For those travelling on the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna this evening or tonight, it’s much the same story as well.
Drivers using the route should exercise extra caution by adjusting their driving with the changing road conditions. Visibility may also be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
On Sunday, the Coquihalla Highway was closed in both directions due to the snow.
Winter tires became mandatory for mountain highway routes beginning October 1, until April 30, 2019.
