Temperatures you might expect on New Year’s Day, not Thanksgiving Day.
Brace for “bitter cold” on Thursday and Friday, says meteorologist Ph.D Ryan Maue. “Record low temperatures expected across much of the Northeast with subzero in New England. Wind chill values will make Black Friday shopping quite a shock.”
Maue is forecasting temperatures as low as -9F (-22.8C) in parts of New York, -4F (-20C) in northern New Hampshire, +2 (-16.7C) in parts of Pennsylvania and Connecticut, +3 (-16C) in Montpelier, Vermont, and a balmy 16 (-8.9C) in Boston.
Maue states: “I’ve been making weather maps for almost 20 years now… and I’m still shocked by this level of cold for Thanksgiving.”
Weather.com concurs with Maue, warning that temperatures will plummet “toward levels you might expect on New Year’s Day, not Thanksgiving Day.”

“If Ryan Maue makes a statement like that, then the residents in the affected area need to take notice and plan accordingly,” says Don.
