Mexico – Hail almost 7-ft deep stops trailer trucks in their tracks – Video

And we wonder what could have trapped and flash-frozen a million mammoths. This  hailstorm lasted only a few hours. Imagine the mayhem if it had continued for days.
_____________

A freak hail storm struck Guadalajara yesterday, shocking residents and trapping vehicles in ice pellets up to two meters (almost 7 ft) deep.

“I’ve never seen such scenes in Guadalajara,” said the state governor, Enrique Alfaro.

“These are never-before-seen natural phenomenons,” he said. “It’s incredible.”

Photos show hail almost up to the hoods on trailer trucks. This trucker was lucky (see video below). The hail came up ‘only’ to the top of the truck’s fenders.

At least six neighborhoods in the city outskirts woke up to ice pellets up to two meters deep.

The actual hailstones measured less than 1cm in diameter (less than 4/10ths of an inch).

Guadalajara, about 350 miles northwest of Mexico City, has a population of around five million.
