Conservative “Achievements” On The Environment

By Paul Homewood

A reader has sent me this latest Conservative Party brochure, bragging off their “achievements” on reducing emissions:

Perhaps a more honest assessment might have mentioned the following points:

  • This year Conservative climate policies will cost the country £12.2bn in subsidies for all of this green energy.
  • The £52bn “invested”, which will all have to be paid back, is wasted money as it merely duplicates existing capacity.
  • All of the installed renewable capacity will need to be backed up by proper power stations.
  • While UK emissions have declined by 137 MtCO2 since 2010, China’s have increased by 1291 MtCO2
  • They have committed to net zero emissions without any plan of how to achieve it, and without doing any proper costing, although estimates have already put this at £50bn a year.
  • Far from “growing the economy”, climate policies have been partially responsible for offshoring of industry.
  • Far from “boosting productivity” low productivity has become endemic, something which the obsession with climate can only make worse.

Unfortunately politicians and honesty don’t often go hand in hand!

via NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT
