Greenpeace and the annexing of BBC news–Conservative Woman

Former BBC news producer David Keighley has the low down on the latest example of the BBC’s green campaign agenda:

THE BBC runs – at our expense – probably the largest and best-resourced newsroom in the world.

So how is it using its journalistic muscle? Its latest ruse is to go into partnership with . . . Greenpeace.

The target of this initiative – evidenced here – seems to be to interfere with the operations of the government agency UK Export Finance (UKEF), which helps facilitate financial support from banks and other sources for British companies which win contracts overseas.

UKEF is already heavily hamstrung by green ideology. For example it is supporting unprofitable solar power but will not touch coal, the electricity generated from which has helped halve poverty in India within a decade.

For Greenpeace, though, such restrictions are obviously not good enough, and now it is trying to stop any investment in any project that generates ‘carbon’.

Enter the BBC. Its programme Newsnight has combined with Greenpeace Unearthed in a ‘special investigation’.

Full article here.

I have often referred to the UKEF before, which is often incorrectly referred to as “subsidising” fossil fuels.

Its job is twofold:

1) To provide credit insurance to UK companies who export.

2) Provide finance at commercial rates to overseas businesses or governments, who buy UK goods and services.

The explicit purpose is perfectly clear – to support British businesses abroad, who would almost certainly lose out on export sales otherwise.

And as the BBC report states, many other countries are backing the very projects being discussed here. If the UK pulled the plug, there would quickly be many other countries ready to step in.

In short, the UKEF is doing nothing illegal or immoral. So what right does the BBC have to interfere with their operation, which brings huge benefits to the UK?

via NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT
