Kazakhstan residents outraged by poor response to snowstorm

A number of officials and contractors were fined for unsatisfactory work in snow removal in cities and districts of the Karaganda region.

Astana residents are outraged by the poor work of the Ministry of Emergencies in responding to the abnormal snowstorm in the capital.

It was reported that on the Shchuchinsk-Nur-Sultan highway, more than 150 people spent the whole night on the road due to a massive accident.

Emergency rescue operations continue on the tracks in the regions of Kazakhstan. On the Temirtau-Karaganda road, police saved about 40 people from freezing, according to polisia.kz.

Due to the snowstorm and lack of visibility on the roads of Karaganda, 26 accidents were registered in the afternoon on January 28th.

Through the efforts of road services, police and emergency situations, about 40 cars were rescued from snow captivity, 174 people were evacuated.

The government of Kazakhstan decided to unblock the state reserve for allocation of snow-clearing equipment to the regions. It is also entrusted to provide heating points with medical services, food and fuel and lubricants.
