Record snowfall in Upper Midwest

New storm to hit California this weekend with heavy rain along the coast and 3 feet (1 m) of snow for the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Record snowfall hit the Upper Midwest Thursday; almost 10 inches in Grand Forks, ND,  and almost 5 inches in Fargo, ND.

Wyoming saw the largest amount of snowfall, with 21 inches.

Seven states from Minnesota to Kansas were under ice and snow alerts Friday morning.
