Snowy Mountains, Australia – Nearly 40 inches of snow in 24 hours

“One of the biggest 24-hour storms seen for a long time.” Dangerous driving conditions. Some roads closed.

“Well, that was an incredible 24 hours for the NSW resorts with 70-100cms (27.5-39.4 inches) of snow in a 24-hour period, the higher totals falling above 1800 metres, but there was also snow all the way down to Jindabyne and beyond.”

Dangerous driving conditions saw the roads closed to both Thredbo and Perisher for much of the day. The Alpine way, yesterday afternoon.
