By every measure the Third World is much better off than it ever used to be, and this has only been made possible thanks to global economic growth resulting from fossil fuels.

For example, life expectancy began rising in the 1920s, and has carried on rising since:

Child mortality is half what it was just thirty years ago:

Does Christian Aid think any of this would have been possible without fossil fuels?

 

Or would they prefer that the peoples of Africa and the rest of the Third World lived as their grandparents did a few decades ago?
