What on earth is the BBC doing giving space to this load of drivel?
It is written by somebody called Gaia Vince, who apparently has a book to sell!
According to her website:
My latest book, NOMAD CENTURY, is an urgent investigation of the most underreported, seismic consequence of climate change: how it will force us to change where – and how – we live. It is a book of solutions and also a rousing call to arms, describing how we can plan for and manage the now unavoidable climate migration while we restore the planet to a fully habitable state.
I would not recommend reading the BBC piece, never mind buying the book, if you want to remain sane. Needless to say it is full of statements like:
“Without action, hundreds of millions people will have to leave their homes by 2050, according some estimates. One study from 2020 predicts that by 2070, depending on scenarios of population growth and warming, "one to three billion people are projected to be left outside the climate conditions that have served humanity well over the past 6,000 years".
Sh is of course entitled to her views, no matter how crazy. But if the BBC are prepared to give her the opportunity to air them, why don’t they do the same for everybody else with different views?
via NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT
