WMO’s State Of The Climate Propaganda

By Paul Homewood

I was away when this was published, so I won’t do a full analysis. There are, however, a few items I wish to highlight:

Drought in India:

As far as global food production is concerned, cereal production hit an all time record in 2021, as it did in Asia and Africa. Whether 2.3 billion are facing food insecurity or not, it has nothing to do either with climate change or the weather:

Secondly, they claim that crop yields in India suffered because of the drought in spring last year. The reality is that weather is never perfect, and sometimes it is too hot, too cold, too wet or too dry. To cherry pick a couple of months weather and call it climate change is fraudulent.

In any event, drought or no drought, both cereal and horticulture products set record high outputs in the July 2021 to June 2022 period.

Moreover this year’s spring harvest in India is expected to be at or close to record levels, following a plentiful monsoon last summer:

Floods, Droughts & Heatwaves

The report is, of course, full of weather disasters, to give the impression that they are getting worse.

The reality is somewhat different, with the number of deaths from natural disasters in 2022 amongst the lowest on record:

Antarctic Sea Ice

Despite the claim of record low sea ice, the WMO fail to point out that the long term trend is flat, and that Antarctic sea ice extent reached record highs just a few years ago. Was that due to global warming as well?

It is clear from the data that there are often wild swings in sea ice extent form year to year, so plainly there are natural factors at work here.

Climate Change Continues To Advance

According to the WMO:

From mountain peaks to ocean depths, climate change continued its advance in 2022,

On the contrary, there is nothing to suggest that the world’s climate is any different to what it has been for the last few decades.
