Whitechurch DCNN8188 – Secretive data but from where and why and who?

51.98868 -4.67913 Met Office Assessed Class 4 Installed 1/1/1975

Whitechurch (now generally known as Eglwyswen) automatic weather station is in what would best be described as a back garden-cum-market garden in Pembrokeshire over 7 miles from the coast. It sits between vegetable patches to the north-west of a poly tunnel and is bordered on all sides by tall hedging. The Met Office assess the site as CIMO Class 4 and are happy to proclaim national daily maximum temperatures from here as below.

The Met Office has a £1.2 billion super computer into which they feed data from the likes of this site below seen from Google Street view.

Clicking on the link for Whitchurch on the above “extremes” page takes you quite inexplicably to the data from the coastal site of Aberporth 11.8 miles away.

What causes further confusion is that the temperature figures quoted at Aberporth for the referenced date of the 14th November are nothing like the quoted maximum for Whitechurch and show just 8°C – the small matter of 8.3°C lower. The link also refers to other stations quoted as “nearby places” ranging from 30 to 36 miles away. Are the actual historic figures for Whitechurch for the day before such a secret that they cannot be divulged?

The plot thickens even more. It is possible to see the historic data from most Met Office automatic stations from a third party organisation –https://weatherobs.com/

These are the hourly details actually recorded for Aberporth which bear no similarity to those quoted by the Met Office link figures and actually reached 12.9°C but still 3.4°C less than claimed for Whitechurch.

And taking this a step further why couldn’t the Met Office have just shown the data for Whitechurch itself in the first place in lieu of this rambling run around quoting misleading data from sites either quite distant or dissimilar locations. Aberporth is on the coast, Whitechurch is well inland. So here is the Whitechurch data that the Met Office do not seem to want to divulge.

Notice how sharp the temperature spike is on the 14th compared to the same graph for Aberporth. Worth noting that another nearby automatic station, Scolton Country Park at 13 miles distant and also inland, did not reach such highs.

Leaving aside such confusing and misleading representations of data , back to the actual Whitechurch site itself. The general public assumes that government agencies with such large budgets would be both “high tech” and of the utmost scientific integrity. The Met Office itself portrays its recording sites as quite grandiose as below.

Without wishing to personally disparage these amateur meteorologists below, I seriously doubt the general public would expect this below to be the Whitechurch weather station as publicised in the Guardian newspaper back in 2016. As I recently proved the Met Office claim accuracy to one hundred thousandth of a degree celsius……..does anybody really believe that from this?

Further details of the site can be viewed in this youtube interview with the site’s custodian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9DMnFvFxNw

I have no wish to belittle the efforts of the many amateurs who assist in the data recording, but is this really the standard with poor siting that the public expects and deserves to produce data upon which huge Government decisions are being taken? Can the Met Office not represent its own data in a manner the public can actually understand? Or are they actually trying to hide something?

Second Trump Administration Will Benefit Environment

By Diana Furchtgott-Roth

At the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Azerbaijan, attendees are full of dire predictions that the world’s climate will worsen under President-elect Trump. But when Trump fulfills his campaign promises to increase U.S. oil and gas production and removes President Biden’s pause on new liquid natural gas exports, global emissions will likely decline rather than rise.

This is because exports of U.S. natural gas generally displace coal, reducing global CO2 emissions. Even Germany, Europe’s largest manufacturer, is using lignite coal (rather than the less-polluting bituminous coal) to deal with shortages of renewables now that it has closed its nuclear power plants and Russian gas is no longer available.

About 3 billion people in emerging economies lack electricity and running water, and cook over wood and dung. Natural gas power plants would reduce particulates from wood and dung and make the air cleaner. Under President Biden, the World Bank does not make loans for fossil fuel power plants.

More U.S. gas for export will lower prices of Russian and Qatari gas, harming countries that are invading Ukraine and tied to Iran. Prices are set based on future production, and even announcements of energy production will weaken America’s enemies.

Natural gas production has lowered U.S. emissions of CO2, which have declined by a billion metric tons over the past 16 years as natural gas has substituted for coal use in the generation of electricity. Over the same period, CO2 emissions in China have risen by 5 billion metric tons.

Between 2022 and 2023 US coal exports to Europe increased by 22% compared with the prior year. Because coal has more emissions than natural gas, it is surprising that Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm has not asked for a pause in coal exports, only on natural gas exports.

America’s natural gas exports to Europe have been soaring since 2022, when Russia decreased the flow of natural gas. According to the Energy Information Administration, America exported an average of almost 12 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas in 2023, more than any other country.

Europe is America’s biggest customer, and in a phone call to President-elect Trump, European Union President Ursula von der Leyen suggested that US natural gas could replace Russian gas.

But even if America stopped all use of fossil fuels immediately, global temperatures would only be two-tenths of 1 degree Celsius by the year 2100, according to government models. This is because China, India, Africa, and Latin America are ramping up their use of coal to reach Western standards of living. China is home to large supplies of coal, but little natural gas, and uses its domestic coal supplies for generating electricity to power its global manufacturing capacity.

A second Trump administration will not only encourage production of natural gas but also faster permitting of pipelines and LNG terminals to move the natural gas from the interior of the country to the ports, and into export terminals to be shipped to Europe and Asia.

America’s natural gas production, at over 100 billion cubic feet per day, is greater than pre-pandemic levels, but production is primarily on private lands. It could have been even higher if Biden had not restricted leases on federal land and if pipeline approval were faster.

Trump’s energy plan includes permitting reform, allowing different sources of energy to compete on a level playing field, opening more lands to natural gas development, reversing Biden’s climate agenda, expediting nuclear technology, and protecting the energy grid.

Trump, unlike Biden, will not instruct the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to slow down pipeline and liquid natural gas export terminal construction in the name of a transition to renewables. Nor will Trump instruct the Securities and Exchange Commission to discourage investment in pipelines, or the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to discourage loans for fossil fuel projects.

The more natural gas is exported, the lower are global emissions. With Trump’s changes, natural gas will be able to travel to where it is needed due to faster infrastructure permitting.

As the northern hemisphere moves into its winter season, the need for more energy for warming homes and businesses becomes even more pressing, and natural gas is cleaner than coal. COP29 attendees have no reason to demonize Trump’s energy agenda, which will be a boon to the environment.

Growing Electric Car Sales Slump In Germany… Ford Cuts Back Production In Cologne Plant

Germany’s Blackout News reports on the ongoing sales slump for in e-cars and how the Ford plant in Cologne is putting its employees on reduced work times (Kurzarbeit).

AI generated symbol image (Chat GPT)

Currently there’s a “growing crisis in the e-car market” and the production of the Explorer and Capri electric models at the Cologne, Germany plant “have come to a standstill for a total of three weeks.” The reduced work hours are expected to continue until Christmas – all in response to “rapidly deteriorating market conditions for electric vehicles”, says a Ford spokeswoman.

Failed Green Economy

Sales of electric cars and industrial production in general across Germany have been taking a huge hit due in large part to failed green policies from inept governments over the past 2 decades, which have driven energy prices up and sent consumer confidence plummeting.

Blackout News cites an internal letter from the company that underscores “the explosive nature of the situation” that is “forcing Ford to significantly reduce its weekly production capacity.”

According to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, “market demand has fallen”, forcing Ford Germany to adjust its production accordingly.

Blackout News describes a bleak future of “economic uncertainty, rising interest rates and a hesitant customer base. At the same time, the German government is forcing car manufacturers to produce more electric cars to meet climate targets, yet most consumers are refusing to buy them.
