GREENPEACE LOSE $660 MILLION COURT CASE

The payment is to compensate for damages and losses from protests in 2015 and 2016 that damaged and delayed the North Dakota Access Pipeline. The protests were so large and so out of control, the clean up bill cost North Dakota $38 million dollars. So finally the oil companies have turned the tide in the USA.

Greenpeace ordered to pay oil company $660m which may wipe them out in the US « JoNova

Colwyn Bay DCNN 7607 – Set in a perfectly natural environment?

53.29095 -3.71465 Met Office Assessed CIMO Class 4 (?) Installed 1/1/1929

I have deliberately pulled out this image to fully show the environment in which the weather station is set. Whilst in my previous post on Strathallan I felt the CIMO rating of Class 4 was harsh and it was almost a class 1 candidate, I am frankly astonished this Colwyn Bay site is even bothered with at all. The Class 4 rating is an absurdity.

Focusing in to get a clearer image of the screen involves going back in time through historic images which predate the construction of the artificial turf pitch to the east of the screen. – bear this addition in mind.

There is now so much construction surrounding this site that it is not possible to get a street view image of it, however with containers, pathways, a running track stadium building, astroturf sports pitch etc, is the Met Office really trying to claim this conforms to vegetation and ground cover typical of the locality. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Met Office will defend this site as meeting “requirements” by getting out the tape measure so I will save them the time. Here are the terms and conditions.

And here is the site with a 10 metre radius.

Hey presto it is less than 50% so it can be called Class 4 despite being totally unacceptable to any reasonable minded meteorologist let alone the general public. It is also less than 30% in a 3 metre radius but who would give credibility to readings from all the above? Well nobody who saw what also goes on at this place. Image below courtesy of streetview images or maybe its from “Where’s Wally“. Play “Spot the Stevenson Screen” here……it’s in there!

Yes the “Stadiwm CSM” regularly hosts concerts, major sporting events and the likes. I have been assured that sitting up on the bank alongside the weather station is a really good vantage point. This is very reminiscent of the former Cheltenham Montpelier Park 1990 all time record high temperature where a fete and concert were being held on that self-same day. Apparently thousands of humans, on site catering, volume car parking and the occasional bit of high jinks makes no difference to the readings.

Another quality weather site (on a par with the souvenir of Innsbruck pictoral thermometer in my conservatory) funded by the UK taxpayer.

Net Zero Blamed for Heathrow Shutdown

From THE DAILY SCEPTIC

by Will Jones

Net Zero has been blamed for the complete shutdown of Heathrow after an aviation industry expert told Reform MP and Deputy Leader Richard Tice that Heathrow is moving from diesel back-up generators to biomass and the system failed “at the first time of asking” when a local electrical substation went up in flames. The Mail has more.

At least 220,000 passengers have been left stranded in Britain and around the world after an electrical fire shut the airport for at least 24 hours – with the level of global travel chaos sparked by the outage being compared to 9/11.

The UK’s busiest airport was forced to close on Friday after its main power substation exploded and set alight less than two miles away in the west London suburb of Hayes.

The complete closure of Heathrow due to the loss of just one electrical substation is unprecedented and raises major questions for the airport and the Government. It has also left many stranded travellers raging and reduced to tears.

Mr Tice said on GB News: “It appears that Heathrow had changed its backup systems in order to be, wait for it… Net Zero compliant.”

“They had got rid of their diesel generators and had moved towards a biomass generator that was designed not to completely replace the grid but work alongside it. Their Net Zero compliant backup system has completely failed in its core function at the first time of asking.

“We know diesel generators work as backup systems. If this is correct, and I have no reason to believe it’s not, they are guilty of gross negligence of the highest order.”

MailOnline has asked Heathrow to comment on Mr Tice’s claims. Its 2022 Net Zero plan confirms it is “investigating renewable-based alternatives that can still meet the stringent performance criteria” – but it is not clear how far along those plans are.

Senior sources at the airport have insisted that Heathrow does have back-up power systems but “activating contingencies for the whole airport requires some time” and “isn’t immediate”, one insider said to the Times. Bosses are expected to be hauled before Parliament to explain.

Julian Bray, one of the UK’s leading aviation experts said: “We are all amazed that Heathrow does not have a viable standby independent of the grid emergency power supply but relies on the National Grid. It’s not as if Heathrow is short of money – it has a substantial war chest for building the third runway.”

Live at 1 p.m. Eastern: Greenpeace Faces Extinction — The Climate Realism Show #150

The Heartland Institute

For decades, Greenpeace activists have used the legal system, “direct action,” vandalism, and even violence against energy companies and workers. Well, the tables have turned BIG TIME. A North Dakota jury decided this week that Greenpeace must pay oil company Energy Transfer a staggering $667 million for inciting protests, encouraging violence, and damaging the company’s reputation. Before the verdict, Greenpeace USA said such a decision would bankrupt the organization and drive it to extinction. Well, Greenpeace are the dinosaurs, and that case is their asteroid.

The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely will discuss this staggering decision — rare moment when radical environmental activists are held accountable for their disruptive and destructive actions.

We will also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the Week, which includes the FBI opening criminal fraud investigations against those involved in the Biden EPA’s climate grift, while an Obama-appointed judge has delayed the clawback of the $20 billion in grants because there is “no evidence” of fraud. There’s also more bad news for unreliable wind power, Tesla vandalism continues unabated, and we’ve learned the Biden administration buried a report by its own Department of Energy that would have undermined its unilateral banning of natural gas exports.

Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET for Episode 150 of The Climate Realism show and we will answer your questions in the chat.
