Half of Greece is white

Snow all the way to the sea, incredible pictures.

3 Jan 2019 – Unique, whitish images are recorded from dawn on Thursday in dozens of regions of the country, with residents trying to capture them with their cell phones, cameras, even by drone.

Early snow in many parts of the country, with the snow coming in some cases, as in Larissa, to the sea!

In some cases chains are necessary, while some roads have been closed.

Snow falls in Parnitha, and the rain is particularly intense in Athens.

According to meteorologist Yiannis Kalliano, the bad weather is expected to hit from Central Greece and north (up to Thrace), even in lowland areas.

Very dense snowfall will cause particular problems for drivers (even at very low altitudes) in the following prefectures:

Fokida
Evrytania
Fthiotida
Trikala
Karditsa
Larissa
Magnesia
Viotia (mainly in the northern areas)
Pieria
Imathia
Serres
Drama
Rodopi
Evros
Strong snowfall in Karditsa
