Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park was temporarily closed because of winter weather yesterday. Winter weather — on the first day of summer.
Snow was falling at higher elevations in the park, with up to 10 inches of snow forecast through Sunday.
The Alpine Visitor Center was also closed for the day because of the poor weather.
The road traditionally opens for Memorial Day weekend. However, this year’s opening was delayed until June 5 because of heavy snow this season.
