Meanwhile the idiot Miliband is off to China!

Ed Miliband will travel to China on Friday for talks about the shift to green energy – but won’t mention Beijing’s coal.

The Energy Secretary will hold three days of meetings with Chinese officials to discuss climate change and the transition to net zero.

But The Telegraph understands that he will not directly address the reluctance of the world’s biggest polluter to commit to a hard deadline to phase out coal.

Beijing has seen a resurgence in the construction of new coal-fired power plants, reaching record levels last year.

The article points out that electric vans are literally 50% dearer than diesel, before allowing for unsustainable govt grants of £5000. They are also costlier to run, assuming public chargers are used.

Motorway driving range is as low as 150 miles.

They conclude:

For the most part, however, in the current climate battery electric vans simply cannot do the job they are required to do; given this situation, it’s difficult to see how the Government can maintain its intransigent position on the ZEV mandate.
